Sustainable Travel Finland: We are a sustainable travel destination

In February 2021, Särkänniemi was awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland label managed by Visit Finland as the first amusement park in Finland and as one of the first companies in Pirkanmaa region. Särkänniemi meets the criteria set for the label, and its right to use it is a sign of valuable and long-term work for sustainable tourism.
Visit Finland has launched the Sustainable Travel Finland programme to promote sustainable tourism in Finland. The companies that have received the label have taken ecological, social, cultural and economic sustainability into account in their operations.
In order for the tourism industry to be able to meet changing demand and continue to grow, development must be sustainable. To help the tourism industry in Finland to adopt sustainable practices, Visit Finland has developed the Sustainable Travel Finland programme. The programme is designed for Finnish tourism companies and destinations to develop more sustainable practices.

Responsibility for our common environment has always played an important role in Särkänniemi, and Särkänniemi has been a pioneer on environmental issues for decades. The most significant environmental impacts of Särkänniemi's operations are the high energy consumption, waste and noise. Särkänniemi has its own management and development programs for all of these. Green energy from our own roof
In 2018, a solar power plant of approximately 100 kWp was built in Särkänniemi. The amount of electricity generated by the solar power plant corresponds to the production of about 25 detached house power plants. Panels can be found on the roofs of D building and Pizzeria Pelle, for example. You can see them from Näsinneula!
The rest of the electricity needed by Särkänniemi is covered 100% by domestic renewable energy.
