Piggy Town is OPEN!
Now it's finally happening! Piggy Town was opened to customers for the first time on Saturday, April 29th. Despite the cool atmosphere over the weekend, the reception of the new village was warm. We are still waiting for a few adjustments: In addition to the Bouncing Carrots, the Speedy Worm is not yet operational as our worm friend needs a bit more warmth so that the speed doesn't slow down on the uphill!
We will be open again next weekend and soon almost every day! Buy your tickets to Särkänniemi and come visit Piggy Town!

Welcome to the Piggy Town!
Piggy Town is Särkänniemi's new themed area that opened this summer in place of Angry Birds Land.
"Piggy Town is our mascot Pouta Pig's own village, where you can find everything that a proper village should have," says Miikka Seppälä, the CEO of Särkänniemi.
Kärsänniemi offers amusement rides suitable for children and the whole family, many of which have received a new look and name. The Piggy Train has been relocated to its rightful place at Kärsänniemi Railway Station, and the former Kantti X Kantti cars have been transformed into a story-driven Postal Adventure. Additionally, the Red Barons have become the Kärsänniemi Flight School's Lentsikat, the Little Tugboat has turned into the Candy Ship responsible for indulgent treats, and the Magic Wheel has become the Bat Messenger, suitable for Piggy Town's courier services, among others.
Piggy Town also features a grocery store, a police station, a hotel, and a playground. "It's fantastic that I finally have my own village in Särkänniemi. It was about time," comments Pouta Pig.
"I've been wandering around the amusement park without a permanent residence for several years now, so the construction of Kärsänniemi was a welcome change and a good reason to return to work from vacation a little earlier. The best part is, of course, that I can invite all my friends to come and live in my village," Pig continues.
"Pouta Pig and its friends personify Särkänniemi's values: joy, courage, responsibility, and togetherness. Cheerful and brave Pouta brings joy to all Särkänniemi visitors, and in Särkänniemi and Piggy Town, having fun is always responsible," Seppälä explains.
Other residents of Piggy Town include Kajo Rabbit, Myrsky Mole, Leimu Bat, and Lauha Lamb. Each resident also has their own responsibilities in the village: Kajo Rabbit is the official mail bunny of the village, Myrsky Mole is the captain of the Candy Boat and the guardian of the Lighthouse, Leimu Bat is in charge of courier services, and Lauha Lamb takes care of the carrot market.
Piggy Town opened on Saturday, April 29th, 2023, along with the opening of Särkänniemi amusement park. Some adjustments to the park's appearance and contents will be made during the spring and early summer.
"We will have an excellent Bouncing Carrots ride for Kärsänniemi's carrot market by midsummer, once the carrots are ripe," Seppälä reveals. "At the same time, Bouncing Carrots will replace the previously beloved Angry Birds Ride in the area."
The opening of Piggy Towwn is part of Särkänniemi's overall development. The opening of the new themed area became relevant as the cooperation license between Särkänniemi and Rovio ended in late 2022, leading to the decision to let go of Angry Birds Land.
"We are truly grateful for the long-standing and successful partnership with Rovio," Seppälä says. "Angry Birds Land served as a pioneer for modern amusement park theming, setting an example globally as well. We will take inspiration from Angry Birds Land as we develop the amusement park as a whole."

Myrsky Mole
Myrsky Mole is the captain of Candy Boat. Myrsky is confidently responsible for transporting all things sweet to Kärsänniemi on Candy Boat. Myrsky is brave and not afraid of wind or rain. Unfortunately, Myrsky Mole’s eyesight isn’t quite right – in fact they can’t see much of anything – so the Candy Boat tends to drift around in the waves. So far, however, all candy shipments have always been delivered. As a side job, Myrsky also works as the lighthouse keeper at Kärsänniemi, making sure the Lighthouse warns boats of Kärsänniemi’s location.

Leimu Bat
Leimu Bat is Kärsänniemi’s flying delivery bat. When the baker forgot the sugar or when the construction worker needs a hammer urgently, Leimu Bat jumps on the back of his flying bike and quickly transports the goods where they are needed. The residents of Kärsänniemi need Leimu in their everyday lives. Leimu is so smart that they are already on their way when others just realize that something is needed. Leimu is sometimes nervous because of constantly analyzing and anticipating things. Leimu Bat’s signature ride is, of course, Bat Delivery, with which everyone can experience the joy of flying.

Kajo Rabbit
Kajo Rabbit is the official mail carrier of Kärsänniemi, also known as “post bunny”. Kajo delivers mail to all the residents of Kärsänniemi with a small old-fashioned mail van. Kajo Rabbit loves to do work as a mail carrier, because thanks to it, the endlessly curious post bunny gets to meet everyone every day and ask about news. Kajo is quite oblivious and may not always focus on delivering mail. Sometimes it happens that mail ends up in the wrong address and needs to be delivered again. Guests of Särkänniemi can also go on a small tour with the mail van to enjoy Merry Mail Adventure.
