Särkänniemi's Planetarium

Särkänniemi's classic Planetarium has shows year-round. Planetarium features two films, which are narrated in Finnish.

We the Aliens is an animation aimed at children, which deals with the fact that humans are also aliens and, from some point of view, very special aliens.

STARMAP to the Unseen Universe also suits adult taste. In this fascinating story, we embark on an adventure through the solar system and beyond – passing the stars of the Milky Way and distant galaxies. Along the way, we witness stunning and colorful cosmic phenomena.

Both shows are allowed to ages 3 and up, and can also be listened to in English with headphones. Please ask the staff if you would like to borrow a pair. Each film lasts approximately 25 minutes.

A visit to Planetarium is included in Planetarium ticket, Särkänniemi Wristband, Attractions Wristband and Carnival Wristband. You can use Edenred, Epassi and Smartum culture benefits at Särkänniemi when paying your own Planetarium Ticket (no wristbands). You can only use culture benefits on the spot at Särkänniemi.

Särkänniemi Planetarium Shows

Outside the summer season, planetarium shows are held on weekends. During the Creepy Carnival, the Planetarium is open on event days. Opening hours.

Tampere Ursa Planetarium Shows

Planetarium shows hosted by Tampere Ursa’s astronomy guides are held at Särkänniemi once a month during the winter season: 19 September, 24 October, 21 November, 9 January, 6 February, 6 March and 3 April. There are two shows each day: The Night Sky This Month (at 3:00 PM) and Life and the Universe (at 3:40 PM). These are available only in Finnish.
