Tips for protecting yourself from the sun
On a fun day out, it's important to pay attention to protecting yourself and your loved ones from the sun and excessive heat. The four V's rule – varjo (shade), vaate (clothing), voide (sunscreen), and vesi (water) – helps ensure your skin is shielded from the harmful effects of the UV rays while also boosting your energy during a day at the amusement park. Don’t forget sunglasses to protect your eyes too! The Särkänniemi wristband includes not only access to the amusement park and Doghill Fairytale Farm, but also indoor attractions: Aquarium, Planetarium, and Näsinneula Observation Tower. It’s a good idea to take breaks indoors to cool off and get some relief from the scorching midday sun. You can also ask our staff to refill your water bottle for free at any kiosk equipped with a faucet.
Height Restrictions and Safety
Height, Age, and Size Restrictions
Children under 3 years of age can enter permitted rides and attractions free of charge. Children who are 3 years or older require a ticket product to access rides or attractions. Rides suitable even for lap infants when accompanied by an adult (15 years or older) include:
Lake Carousel (Järvikaruselli)
Post Adventure (Postiseikkailu)
Candy Carousel (Karamelli-Karuselli)
Candy Ship (Karkkilaiva)
Silly Bus (Hassu Bussi)
However, seat belts or safety bars must be securely fastened, so in some rides, children may not be able to sit in a lap but must instead sit next to the adult in a separate seat.
In all rides where there are separate height limits for riding with or without an adult, the accompanying adult must be at least 15 years old. The accompanying adult must also have a valid ticket product (except in Auto Racing, where one ticket per car is sufficient).
The height restrictions for rides are determined by the ride manufacturers and approved by safety authorities, and cannot be compromised. Please check height before entering the ride queue to avoid disappointment. Note: we measure guests with shoes on.
Safety bars may restrict access for individuals with a larger build. With the exception of a few children’s rides, there are generally no upper height or weight limits, but all safety restraints must close securely. These restrictions vary by ride and are best verified by trying the restraint in the actual seat. Our ride attendants are happy to assist in these situations.
You can check the height restrictions for Särkänniemi’s amusement rides [here].
Ride Buddies
If your height or courage isn’t quite enough to ride alone, you can bring along insurance company Turva’s ride buddy from June 23 to August 3, 2025.

RidesPersonal Assistants and The EU Disability Card
EU Disability Card and assistants
The EU Disability Card has been taken into use in Finland in June 2018. Särkänniemi is happy to be a part of supporting the use of the EU Disability Card.
The owner of an EU Disability Card can bring an assistant or a support person with them to Särkänniemi free of charge, when the card is marked with the symbol A (assistant).
A paying disabled customer gets an assistant permit that can be used to enter the rides and attractions. EU Disability card works as a way to verify the need for assistance. The need for assistance can also be verified using own words if the person is mobility-impaired, visual-impaired, hearing-impaired, intellectually disabled, autistic or has a specific language impairment (SLI).
The customer in need of an assistance has to had paid for their own ticket. The assistant has to be at least 15 years of age. The assistant has to be capable of working as an assistant.
An assistant may assist a child accompanying an adult in situations where the child needs an adult to accompany them on a ride that the adult with a disability cannot ride due to their disability. In this case, both the adult with a disability and the child must have a ticket.
You can inquire the assistant permit at our ticket sales. The assistant has to be present when getting the assistant permit. The assistant permit is a sticker that can be attached to the ticket (e.g. Pass or Season Card).
If waiting in line is not possible due to the customer’s condition, a customer who requires an assistant has the right to skip the line. The customer and their assistant can access the ride either through a separate entrance for disabled customers or, if unavailable, through the exit gate. Our staff at the rides will guide you on the specific procedures for each ride.

Cameras in Rides
In general, capturing images with a camera or, for example, a mobile phone is prohibited on the rides. However, if the customer has their own harness, helmet, or wrist/hand mount for a GoPro-style camera, it is possible to use that camera properly secured during the ride. Camera securely attached to the hand or wrist is allowed on all rides except for Hype. You can use a harness mount on Hype. A camera attached to a GoPro head strap cannot be used on rides that go upside down or have otherwise more intense movements. The ride operator can provide additional information about camera attachments, and the operator will inspect the suitability of the attachments. Cameras held in hand or attached to selfie sticks, for example, are considered loose items and are not allowed on any rides.
